Privacy policy
This policy explains what information the fGBA app for Android ("fGBA", "the app") collects, why, and what your choices are. fGBA is made by Alikrik Ltd ("Alikrik", "we", "us"), which is responsible for this data.
The short version
- Your games, saves, save states and settings stay on your device. We never upload them.
- Through Google Firebase, we collect usage statistics and crash reports that aren't linked to your name or account. We use them to find bugs and improve the app.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Information that stays on your device
The game files you import, battery saves, save states and their thumbnails, controller mappings and settings are stored only in the app's storage on your device. They are not sent to us or anyone else. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them.
Information we collect
Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
To understand how the app is used, fGBA sends usage events to Google Firebase Analytics — for example, that a game was started, that a save state was written, or that the Pro upgrade screen was opened. With these events Firebase receives:
- a random app instance identifier, which is reset if you reinstall the app;
- device model, Android version, app version, language and screen size;
- approximate country or region, derived from your IP address;
- when and for how long the app was used.
We do not collect the names or contents of your game files, your name, email address or precise location, and fGBA does not collect your device's advertising ID.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics. It contains technical details of the crash (such as which part of the code failed), device model, Android version, app version and a random installation identifier. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs.
Purchases (Google Play and RevenueCat)
fGBA Pro is bought through Google Play, under Google's privacy policy. We never receive your card or payment details. To check whether you own Pro, and to restore it on another device, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives your Google Play purchase receipt and a random identifier created by the app. RevenueCat's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.
Why we use it
We use usage statistics and crash reports because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and improving it. We process purchase information to provide the Pro upgrade you bought.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers named above — Google (Firebase and Google Play) and RevenueCat — who process it on our behalf to provide their services. Their servers may be located outside your country, including in the United States; they use standard safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, for these transfers. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Usage statistics: up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: for as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because the identifiers we collect are random and not linked to your name, tell us your device model and roughly when you installed fGBA when you contact us, so we can try to find your data.
Children
fGBA is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how fGBA handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
